Random Acts of Kindness

In my coaching groups, we do challenges to focus on specific skills or learning. This month, one of the challenges is to perform a random act of kindness every day.

I think I’m pretty kind most days, but now that I am committed to doing this every day, I had to get creative! So, I’ve been brainstorming some ideas, and I thought I’d share a few of the ones I’ve come across that I think might be interesting:

Send a care package to a friend going through a tough time.

Pay for someone’s coffee, groceries, or restaurant meal.

Write a thank-you note to someone who has made a difference in your life.

Volunteer for a community event.

Call or visit someone you haven’t connected with in awhile.

Send an encouraging text to a friend or family member.

Donate to a food bank or clothes to a charity.

Be present when you’re out and about:  smile, hold the door open for someone, say hello.

Leave a book you enjoyed in a ‘little library’ in your community

Leave change in random places.

Send a handwritten letter to someone who could use some encouragement.

Donate blood if you’re able.

Offer to hang out with the kids in your life to give their parents a break (and create some cool connections with the little ones).

Send flowers to someone just because.

Leave a positive message on a sticky note in a public place.

Donate money to charity.

Share your talent with others (if you paint, or knit, or bake); I donate coaching hours to causes that resonate with my values.

Do you have any favourite ways to spread kindness? I’d love to hear your ideas too!
